about the conference

The 2025 AASP Southeast Regional Conference, hosted by Georgia Southern University's student-led Sport and Exercise Psychology Club, aims to foster collaboration, learning, and professional growth in the field of sport psychology. Scheduled for Feb 28 - Mar 1, this event will bring together students, professionals, and renowned speakers to explore cutting-edge research, practical applications, and emerging trends in sport and exercise psychology. With a diverse program featuring oral presentations, poster sessions, workshops, and panel discussions, the conference will offer valuable opportunities for networking, skill development, and knowledge exchange. Special emphasis will be placed on student development, ensuring that the next generation of sport psychology professionals is well-equipped to advance the field.
Our carefully curated program will cover a wide range of topics, from performance enhancement techniques to mental health in athletics, catering to various interests and specializations within sport and exercise psychology. The conference will feature sessions on promoting equity and inclusion in athletics, poster presentations showcasing diverse perspectives and experiences, and networking opportunities designed to build a more inclusive community of practitioners and researchers.

Conference Keynotes
Kensa Gunter, Psyd, cmpc

Dr. Kensa Gunter works in private practice in the metro-Atlanta area providing clinical and sport/performance psychology services to adolescent and adult populations. Additionally, she offers consultation services to organizations and athletic personnel including coaches, certified athletic trainers, athletic administrators, and sports nutritionists.

Dr. Gunter values cultural diversity and respects the dignity and worth of all people. Knowing that culture impacts perception and experience, in her work, she acknowledges the importance of individual cultural identities as well as the cultural context(s) in which a person performs and lives. Additionally, when working with individuals and teams, Dr. Gunter strives to create an atmosphere characterized by authenticity, trust, and respect.
Abby Keenan, ms, cmpc

Abby Keenan, based out of metro-Atlanta, is a private practitioner at Intrepid Performance Consulting, LLC where she specializes in mental performance services with student-athletes and masters athletes. She is also a co-creator of Project E, a resource to aid other mental performance consultants in their entrepreneurial journeys.

Abby takes pride in "wearing many hats" and is a frequently sought-out resource in the field of sport psychology for graduate students and professionals who are looking to establish or elevate their private practice. In her own consulting, Abby focuses on an approach surrounding positive youth development and facilitation. In a continued effort to help adolescents, she is heavily involved with the Georgia Teen Institute, a youth leadership and substance abuse prevention summer program.
